10th Annual Greater Oviedo 5k

The 10th Annual Greater Oviedo 5k had over 800 registered runners and was held Saturday, May 26, 2012 beginning and ending on the First Baptist Oviedo campus in front of the new Worship Center. There was a pre-race presentation of colors, National Anthem and opening prayer before the 7:30 a.m. race start time. Following the race, trophy presentations were in the Hangar along with some vendors.

We are grateful to our Partners and all the runners registered which allowed us to provide over $4,000 in proceeds from this race to benefit the Michael Callin Memorial Scholarship Fund. Seminole and Orange County Sheriffs’ offices graciously offered helicopters and memorial and antique patrol cars. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. Michael Callin’s motorcycle was displayed nicely for all to see. The website for information about this fund or to donate can be found at www.michaelcallin.org. We honored all our local heroes at the 10th Oviedo 5k by providing discounted race entry to all current and veteran police, fire, EMT and military personnel in addition to an honorary-colored tech shirt. We are so very grateful for their sacrifice on our behalf each and every day!
